The afters

So, last time I showed you what our house looked like the very first time we stepped foot into it.  Hopefully, that didn't scare anyone away!  Today I’d like to show you a couple of the spaces again, but all cleaned up and looking much better!
The kitchen is brand new.  New cabinet, counter tops, floor, and appliances.  We were able to choose the counter top (but only as far as what kind of Formica pattern we wanted) I would love to have a solid surface but we were unable to get that this time around.  We chose to go with oil-rubbed bronze fixtures around the house.  I love the warm vibe from them.  The sink I also picked out is a Silgranit sink by Blanco.  It looks fantastic and holds up really well to heat, stains and scratches.

One thing we debated on was having the cabinet lighting put it.  It was extra to get it and I thought we’d be better off by saying the money.  But boy am I glad my husband insisted on getting them.  We love those lights!  Not only do they add extra task lighting for cooking, but they just look awesome!  So, take it from me, if you get the chance to put cabinet lighting in, DO IT!
Throughout the main floor, we used the same paint color, Sherwin Williams Versatile Gray.  The trim throughout is color-matched with the cabinets that are in the kitchen.

All the floors in the house are the original hardwood.  There are several spots with stains but overall they look great.  The living room originally had a wood burning fireplace.  As you can see in the photo above, there is a new one ready to be set up.  Unfortunately, the new fireplace was going to stick out too far and we decided to not have one installed.  We plan to install a gas fireplace here in the future.  In the meantime, we have the pipe capped off.  We also plan to install a mantle and we’ve been on the lookout for the perfect one.

The basement received all new carpet and a fresh coat of paint.  New (and some just re-painted) ceiling tiles and just a good cleaning made this feel like a huge transformation.  The paint used down here was Sherwin Williams Heron Plume.  At this point, not much has been done downstairs as we are focusing most of our attention to the main floor.

So there is a glimpse into what the house looks like now.  I’m looking forward to sharing with you what the house looks like now that we have furniture and decor in it.  I’d love to hear what you think.
