A look forward to the new year

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday.  As I work on taking down all my Christmas decorations and hopefully get my house feeling back to normal a little, I thought I'd take some time to share my plans and goals for the next year.

We have a very long list of things we would like to do to our house over the coming years.  But, we can't do them all at once, as much as I would really like to, so we have to decide which are the most important ones.

The first thing on our to-do list is our main floor bathroom.  If you remember from my post here, we have a lot of things that need attention.  Grout that is coming up, molded trim, poor paint job, just to name a few.  This will be our big project this year and I can't wait to get started on it! (see my inspiration for the makeover here)

Another project that is big on my list is to get the treads on our staircase replaced.  These stairs lead to the second floor where our bedroom is.  The treads on there currently are old, squeaky and are coming loose.  Since this is a safety issue as well as an visual eyesore, it's top on my list.  I'm hoping to repaint the risers and do something fun with them.  Any ideas?  I really feel like I need to liven this little space up!

One project that is already in the works, but wasn't completed before the New Year is my guest bedroom makeover. The blue accent wall was just painted yesterday and it looks great!   I'm still waiting to find a couple pieces to get the look put together and I'm excited to get it finished.  (Guest room design here)

Finally, last summer, I removed all of the bushes and plants from our front yard.  I wanted to give the front yard a refresh and a clean slate.  With fall and Christmas past us, I really missed having some foliage in front of the house.  I hope to do some research before spring to figure out what plants I can put in that will look good in all four Michigan seasons.

This is just a small list of stuff that we  would like to do this year.  Of course there is no guarantee that these will all get done, or that we won't have other projects that come up.  But I'm excited to continue making this better here.
